Seasonal stories and notable happenings from the team behind Ochre Botanical Studios.
Thank you for joining us here!
Oh May, weren’t you just a beautiful whirlwind of froth and ruffles? A month of eight weddings, two workshops (including The Art of Flower Making, a very special ceramic flowers session with artist and sculptor Sophie Aguilera at the studio of our dear friends Borja Moronta and Blanc Ceramics – you’ll find more on a very delicious collaboration we have planned with them when you read a little further down in these May Musings), a delivery of spring bunches to Mote102 and lots of tending to a garden warmed by glorious May sunshine and exploding with seasonal treasures.
Admitting to a favourite month for flowers is probably a little like choosing a favourite child, we really shouldn’t do it. But May is just so very special, always overflowing with a very happy abundance of weddings and the year’s first true blast of vibrant flowery colour. It’s a month when we don’t feel like we stop for breath, thirty-one days of non-stop, can’t-stop flowering. And we wouldn’t change it for the world. A very fleeting snapshot of our busy, busy May wedding season below….
May also heralds hard work elsewhere, with our cutting garden at Granton Castle Walled Garden bursting into life. The polytunnel is heady with the scent of sweet peas, tiny wild strawberry flowers carpet the edges between our flower beds and the rambling rose is ready to burst into life any moment now. Watch this space…
May. We loved you. Although you didn’t let up for a second and certainly kept us on our toes, so much so that these musings were only ever going to be a very, very brief pause in appreciation of all that you brought to our table, before we dive headlong into June and the full joyfulness of summer up ahead.
So long May, until next year.
